Netflix for the iPad Rocks My World
May 28th
I was a bit on the fence about the iPad before it came out. Like many others I thought there were some flaws in the iPad that I figured would get punched up in future versions. But then I started to hear about some of the amazing apps that were going to be available and NETFLIX was by far the one that convinced me that I needed an iPad.
I don’t know about you but I watch a lot of streaming content from Netflix. TV shows, movies, documentaries. Lots and lots of things I never have time to see and tons of movies I’ve seen many times like Fletch and Caddyshack, that I never grow sick of watching.
I’ve sat in bed at night watching Morgan Spurlock’s 30 Days and when I was laid up, Netflix and the iPad provided me with lots of entertainment on the couch.
If you have an iPad, I cannot recommend getting a Netflix account highly enough. They even have a free trial to check it out. Netflix on the iPad is a real technology and entertainment game changer. Once you have Netflix on your iPad, you’ll wonder how the heck you lived without it. I’m serious.
And of course here is an iPad friendly link to the video: iPad Review
Recording audio on an iPad with the Camera Connection Kit
May 19th
Yes it works. As you can see, with a native USB compliant audio source (meaning one that requires no drivers), you can just plug it into the iPad Camera Connection Kit and record. In this quick and dirty test, you can see how easy it is to do it.
Also, you can listen to an MP3 of the actual iPad audio test recording. As you’ll notice there’s a bit of overmodulation which is really more of an issue with the source volume (me). If there was a decent audio recording app that had some sort of input volume control and/or compression, it would make a lot of difference. Also, the Plantronics headset I used is a fairly cheap one–the one I got with a copy of MacDictate–and as a result it’s a bit nasal-sounding but again, this is really more of a fault of the input mechanism than anything else.
If I get a chance I’ll hook it up to a cleaner source and see what happens but for now, consider the rumors true. You can record audio with an iPad!
