We’re going through a heat wave in L.A. right now so it was really hot on set yesterday. Between every take they’d fire up fans and the AC and the makeup girl would run in and pat down and powder our faces. It was a total blur of reading prompter and then waiting, waiting, waiting off-set in the green room for when they’d shoot my next segment. From what I could tell it all went well. I think I did a pretty decent job of delivering the goods and the director didn’t have to yell at me too much. So we shall see. If this all does manage to pan out, I’ll be happy to say that doing TILTW on-camera was perfect preparation for a TV gig. I guess I could say it already since I landed the gig because of what people saw me doing on my show and I got it without having to do a single audition.
So who says creating content on the web can’t be a calling card to do bigger things?
There are many factors and stages in between shooting this “presentation” and it ever becoming an actual TV show and even if it does become a show, no guarantees I’ll continue to be one of the co-hosts–they may want someone younger, hipper–but there are some very well-respected folks behind this project including the former showrunner of three certified massive smash hit shows and it’s the kind of thing that makes me believe this project has a chance. Either way, I’m enjoying the ride. Location shoot tonight. More details coming as I can share them.
And when will the show air? Propably only in the USA?
It’s actually only a presentation (a pilot, a sample of what the show would really be) so what we shot most likely will never air anywhere. It’s really more of a tool for the producers to show the folks who cut the big checks. If the show got picked up, a big if with any pilot, they may re-use what we shot or they may reshoot it, possibly with cast changes. Though I cant’ say anything about what the show is about, I can say that if it were to happen, the subject matter would potentially be applicable to audiences outside the US as well so keep your fingers X’d.
Fingers Crossed? FFS, if it does not get picked up they are idiots and I’m sure Rapideye and I would be more than happy to hunt them down help to reconsider things… not that I’m biast or anything
Amen Sy… Amen! The producer emailed me today to say the shoot went great yesterday so I’m continuing to feel confident this crazy show has a shot.
I think I’ll listen through Diary of a Madman once again to draw some inspiration… Just in case some nutjob makes an unsatisfactory decision.
Hopefully the show will get picked up on its own merits and nobody will have to be tortured with power tools… but let’s not rule it out.
